
Reverend Angela Carmen Appiah combines extensive healthcare leadership with corporate governance expertise, serving as Immediate Past President of the Institute of Directors Ghana following her two-year tenure as Vice-President elected in May 2023. Her MSc in Advanced Practice (Leadership and Management) from Cardiff University complements nearly thirty years of professional experience spanning clinical care, academia, administration, and healthcare regulation. As a Fellow of both the Institute of Directors, Ghana and Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, Appiah has demonstrated exceptional leadership through chairing three Interim Management Committees during institutional transitions and spearheading the Institute’s Regional Branch creation initiatives as Chair of the Regional Outreach Committee. Her multifaceted skill set encompasses board secretaryship, corporate governance, conflict resolution, and systems restructuring, while her current role as Assistant Registrar and Head of Research and Statistics at the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana involves data management, policy development, and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, she provides technical support to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, reflecting her commitment to advancing healthcare education and professional standards across Ghana’s evolving regulatory landscape.
