Awards Nomination Process
Nominations are open to individuals, organisations, institutions and projects across Africa and the globe that have made demonstrable contributions to ESG and sustainable development. The process follows four stages:
- Call for Nominations: The organising committee issues an open call ahead of each annual conference. Nominations may be submitted by third parties or through self-nomination via the official ICESDA portal or by email to the organising committee.
- Submission Requirements: Each nomination must include a completed form, a supporting statement (maximum 1,000 words) outlining the nominee’s achievements and impact, and relevant evidence such as project reports, published work or verifiable data. Entries should demonstrate measurable outcomes, innovation, scalability and alignment with ESG principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Screening and Evaluation: All nominations undergo eligibility screening by the ICESDA secretariat. Eligible entries are assigned to the independent judging panel, who score submissions against published criteria for each category. Judges evaluate individually before convening for panel deliberations to determine shortlists and winners.
- Announcement and Recognition: Winners are announced at the ICESDA Awards ceremony during the annual conference. Shortlisted nominees receive formal recognition, and winners are profiled through ICESDA’s communication platforms and partner media channels.
