Mr. Alexander Baah Amoakwa

Director, Projects and Programs

Alexander Baah Amoakwa is a proactive construction management professional with a background spanning academic research, teaching, and industry experience. Currently pursuing a PhD in Construction Management at KNUST, Ghana, he serves as Class President for the 2024/2025 PhD cohort. Alexander previously earned his MPhil in Construction Management, focusing his dissertation on climate resilience considerations in Ghanaian green buildings, and graduated with First Class Honours in his BSc in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics.

As the CEO of Green Infrastructures Consortium Ltd, Alexander provides strategic direction and operational leadership for sustainable development solutions, and  also served as a Clerk of Works for the $16.2 million renovation of Tarkwa Na Abosso Sports Stadium. His professional journey includes roles as a Research and Teaching Assistant at KNUST, Site Supervisor for government-backed construction projects, and Assistant Quantity Surveyor for various commercial and residential developments.

Alexander has established himself as an emerging scholar in sustainable construction, with publications in journals such as Environment, Development and Sustainability and Benchmarking: An International Journal. His research focuses on climate resilience in green buildings, circular business models, and environmental governance frameworks. He has presented at international conferences and received multiple recognitions, including the Best Scientific Paper Award at ICESDA-2024.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alexander actively contributes to academic service as a Local Organizing Committee Member for international conferences and previously served as a reviewer for the Elsevier Q1 journal Sustainable Cities and Society.
