Since January 2022, Prof. Daniel Y. A. Duah has been serving as the Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO) and chair of the IPO Board. As the Dean, he is responsible for all national and international collaborations and agreements of the University as well as the welfare of exchange and international students and scholars. This has afforded him the opportunity to travel widely to successfully engage leaders of higher education institutions for mutual partnerships whilst developing a robust internationalization strategy and image for the university.
As a Fulbright Scholar, Daniel completed his PhD in Planning, Design, and Construction from Michigan State University, USA. He also holds an MSc degree in Construction Management and Economics from the University of Greenwich, London, U.K., and Post Graduate and Bachelor of Science degrees both in Architecture from KNUST. He obtained his Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates from Pope John Secondary School in Koforidua.
As an Associate Professor of Architecture, Daniel’s research focuses on sustainable, inclusive and smart built environments. He has completed extensive research on rural and urban sustainable smart community planning, inclusivity in built environments for sub–Saharan Africa, and academic and industry engagements in research impact projects for the built environment. He has supervised many doctoral students mainly in architecture and construction technology and graduate and undergraduate students in architecture for close to twenty years. Daniel has published extensively in high impact international peer reviewed journals and has a number of books and book chapters to his credit. He has been a visiting scholar at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences for four years.
Daniel is also a practicing Architect and a Construction Project Management Consultant with about twenty years of professional work experience spanning several countries, including Ghana, USA, UK, Germany, and Sierra Leone. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Professional Practice Commission of the International Union of Architects, Associate of the Ghana Institute of Architects, and is licensed by the Architects Registration Council of Ghana to practice architecture in Ghana.
